10 Things To Do in Baton Rouge with Kids

Happy Monday!

Now that the weather is cooler and the world is slowly opening back up, we can finally leave the house to do things with our kiddos! Although sweet Baton Rouge is a little on the quieter side, there are still lots of fun things to do! There are places all over BR to visit and a wide range of activities to take part in. So, here is a list of our favorite 10 things to do in baton rouge with kids! BONUS : most of them are FREE!

BREC BATON ROUGE ZOO : We take the kiddos here to wear them out! We always have a great time, and the kids love learning all about the animals. The Zoo does offer different types of memberships, but daily admission is $8.75 for adults and $5.75 for kids. We have one and go on a regular basis!

KNOCK KNOCK CHILDREN’S MUSEUM: This one is a little expensive to go to, but it’s a guaranteed fun time! Plus it has AC! Huge bonus in South Louisiana. They have activities for kids of all ages and interests. Knock Knock does offer memberships too!

MIKE THE TIGER: If you are from around the Baton Rouge area there is a chance that you’ve been to LSU’s campus. There is so much to do and see and, it’s also so fun! Our kids love to see Mike and take a picture on the tiger statue in front of the exhibit. Not to mention there is a cool LSU store right next door.

LSU LAKES: While you are making the trip to see Mike, may as well go ahead and take a walk or ride a bike around the lakes. It’s great exercise and a beautiful view! When you’ve finished the lakes, head on over to the dairy store on campus and have a treat!

BREC SWAMP TOURS: Embrace your roots and hit up the BREC Swamp Tour. They offer a lot of classes for different age groups and hands on opportunities. Take a stroll down the nature trails and just enjoy the outdoors.

THE LEVEE: The levee is a great place to get in some exercise, to take pictures with a cool background, or just simply sit and relax while listening to the hustle and bustle of the city. A fun idea is to bring chalk and the let the kids color the concrete! Also, it is a nice place to sit and have a picnic.

LOUISIANA ARTS AND SCIENCE MUSEUM: So much to see when visiting here! It’s kid friendly and it’s indoors! Big plus for those hot Louisiana days. There are a lot of hands on opportunities for the kids and they might even learn something along the way! It’s also right in front of the levee. So after a nice walk on the levee cool off and see some art! Adult admission is $12, kids get in for $10, and they offer memberships!

LIBERTY LAGOON: Liberty Lagoon is a hit with the kids! It’s a miniature water park with areas for both the little kids and the big ones. For only $12, the kids can ride the lazy river, play in the splash pad, or hit the slides! This is the perfect all day affair.

USS KIDD: If you haven’t yet, do yourself a huge favor and check this out! It’s so cool! You can take a self-guided tour to learn the history of the boat and see all throughout it. Then, head inside to cool off and tour the museum. Admission is $12.53 for adults and $8.36 for kids. Make sure to bring comfy shoes! We’ve actually been a few times; it’s one of our favorite things to do downtown!

PERKINS ROAD PARK: We love a good park, and this one offers so much! Take a leisurely stroll or a long walk around the entire park. There is a bike trail, a skate park, a place for the littles to play, wide open areas perfect for family football games and picnics. We went as a big group and had the best time with the kids. The paths are concrete so it made it so much easier to bring our big double strollers!

See! There are tons of things to do in Baton Rouge!
